Marathon Time

Pheew, again, it's been ages since I've wrote something on my running blog.
And i've been busy running though.
Anyway, I've run my marathon (Marathon de Beloeil) successfully and all went well. At least for the first 30km :). Then I had a hard time finding juice to finish it, but I succeeded. My finish-time was 3h54m25s. If you don't believe me, you can always check the official results.

Let's get down to details.
After the 30km race three weeks earlier, I thought I could hold a 5:20 min/km pace. The morning of the race, I didn't feel as fresh as before my 30k though. But that didn't change anything to my target pace. I ran the 30km faster, so even if I faint a little at the end (as I was sure to do though), the pace would still allow for a little fallback.

I'm gonna give a 5 km split report, so I don't have to comment every kilometer.

5km: 26:44 -> no problems here, trying to find the good pace
10km: 27:23 (54:07) -> still no problem, allthough it's hard to find the 5:20 min/km pace
15km: 27:06
20km: 26:52 (1:48:05) -> everything ok here, but I feel that I need to "push" in order to keep the pace
25 km: 27:02
30 km: 28:19 -> from here on, I'm struggling
35 km: 29:21 -> struggling, trying to keep at least a 6 min/km pace (10 km/h) to finish under 4 hrs.
40 km: 29:32 -> is this hard :). I'm trailing a runner that is in front of me and trying to catch him bit by bit
total: 3:54:25

So, to make a short story even shorter. I had a hard time keeping the 5:20 pace from the beginning, but I wasn't too far off for the first 20-30km. The last 12 km I had a rough time and tried to maintain at least a 6:00 pace to still finish comfortably under the 4 hrs.
If I had the legs of the 30km race 3 weeks earlier, I probably could have finished at least 10 minutes less (not more then 15 minutes though), but that's not really such a bad deal as I wanted to finish under 4 hrs for now.
